At the start of 2024, I made a promise to myself to bring more excitement into my life by planning one activity to look forward to each month. From simple moments of joy to more elaborate adventures, the goal was to stay motivated and make every month special. Now, with the year nearly behind me, I can proudly say that I stuck to my plan and embraced each opportunity with enthusiasm. Here’s a look back at how these monthly highlights shaped my year.
✔️January: Solo Cuba Trip
✔️February: Shawn Desman Concert / Superbowl – Go Taylor’s boyfriend #KCchiefs
✔️March: Irish Mingle 🍀 / My 35th Birthday 👑
✔️April: Harlem Globetrotters
✔️May: Festipuces Booth
✔️June: Family PEI Roadtrip
✔️July: Cousin Weekend
✔️August: Vankleek Hill Fair / PSC Wish Tournament – Raised $65,000 / Montreal Highland Games
✔️September: Taco Fest (dancing in the rain)
✔️October: Raptors vs Wizards / Kings of Leon Concert / Boozy Brunch with coworkers
✔️November: Creed, Mammoth & Finger Eleven concert
✔️December: Friends Xmas Dinner/Team 5 Xmas Party in Drummondville/Xmas with the famjam
And as we all know, life can be unexpected and these are some of the things I didn’t quite plan for:
Memorable 35th bday (sick/pinched a nerve in my neck but spent the weekend with the famjam at the cottage)
ICF Coaching Scholarship Application – Denied
March Break in Victoriaville
Solar Eclipse Watch Party (April 8)
Northern Lights #bucketlist
Freezer Died – Had to throw everything out
Started yoga with Rachel Lemay
Rec Soccer League – Injury (torn ACL/gr.2 MCL)
New Manager & New Team
Completed the PN Sleep, Stress Management and Recovery certifcation
Shoutout to my little brother who passed his refrigeration mechanics exam – Congrats! 🎉
This year, I got to experience what it’s like having a life outside of work again. It’s been a long time.. I am so grateful for my current job because I no longer miss any important events like birthdays, holidays or even skating practice. I love being able to be around for all the little things; they’ve always been the most important things.
I realize how impactful this goal has been on my mindset and overall happiness. Having something to anticipate each month made the year fly by in the best way possible, and the variety of experiences helped me appreciate life’s little joys even more. This personal challenge wasn’t just about filling my calendar, but about enriching my days and creating memories that I will cherish for years to come.
How was your 2024?
