FAQ

Coaching

What is a coach?

A coach is a trained professional who has the skills to help individuals, executives and organizations create positive changes, see new possibilities, and help their clients define the steps to be taken to achieve both their short and long-term goals (CCF Training Manual 2015).

What is coaching?

Coaching is a relationship where the Coach and Client co-create a plan to get the Client from where they are to where they want to be. It is not advice, therapy or counselling. It is based on the idea that the Client has the answers and it’s the Coaches job to bring them out, as well as, provide accountability which is the foundation that creates results.

What is wellness coaching?

Wellness coaching is the application of the principles and processes of professional life coaching to the goals of lifestyle improvement for higher levels of wellness (Michael Arloski).

What is the difference between coaching and therapy or counselling?

The major difference is that coaching is primarily future based and therapy and counselling explore the past to understand present behaviours.

Is coaching appropriate for me? / Do I need a coach?

Nobody needs a coach. However, a coach can help if: you have struggled in the past, want to accomplish your goal(s) faster or would like more support.

Do you work with men or is this for women only?

Coaching is open to everyone. My work tends to resonate most with women 30+ navigating busy lives, but the habits and strategies apply no matter who you are.

What if I’ve never worked with a coach before?

That’s completely normal, most of my clients haven’t either. Expect a conversation, not a lecture. My job is to ask good questions, listen and help you find a plan that actually fits your life

What can a coach help me with?

A coach can help you with almost any goal you have, such as: weight loss, work-life balance, time management, relationship issues, personal development, career growth, etc.
Our focus is primarily on helping people build sustainable healthy habits into their lives to improve their overall health and wellbeing (i.e. fitness, nutrition, sleep and stress managment) and personal development.

How it works

What happens during coaching sessions?

The coach will use various assessments and interviewing techniques to draw out your goals, habits, motivations and potential roadblocks to help you create an action plan to accomplish your goal(s) then support you along the way.

How does coaching work?

First, you’ll apply here then we will follow up with a free 20 mins session to clarify the information provided. Next is a Strategy Session, which is a 60 minute consultation to assess goals, co-create an action plan with next steps and decide whether to continue the coaching relationship. If it’s a HELL Yeah on both ends (see blog), we’ll move forward with ongoing sessions based on the commitment that suits you.

How many sessions will I need? / What’s a realistic timeline to see results?

It depends on the goal and how much time and energy you can commit. Sessions generally take place weekly or biweekly, in of 30 or 60 minute increments. Most clients start noticing shifts in energy. consistency and mindset within a few weeks, with bigger results building over a 3 month commitment, which is why that’s the recommended starting point.

Where do sessions take place? / Do you work with clients outside of Montreal?

Sessions can be done over Zoom/Teams or face-to-face, so location isn’t a barrier to working together. However, the time zone is EDT/EST. In-person sessions are available locally in Montreal, either in a casual setting like a park or coffee shop or at a private office in downtown Montreal (subject to availability, extra fee applies).

What if coaching isn’t working for me, or I don’t feel a connection with my coach?

Fit matters. If something isn’t clicking, I want to know so we can adjust the approach or talk honestly about whether coaching is the right fit right now. Your discovery call is also there to help us both figure that out before commitming to ongoing sessions.

How do I know if I’m ready?

You don’t need to have it all figured out to start. If you’re tired of knowing what to do but not doing it and you’re willing to show up and try something different, you’re ready.

Costs

How much does coaching cost?

Your first discovery call is free. From there, Strategy Sessions are $60/hr and we continue based on your goals and budget, typically booked up to 3 months at a time.

Confidentiality

Is what I share confidential?

Yes. What you share in our sessions stays between us. I don’t discuss client information with anyone, including family or employers, without your permission.
